As British Wool Marketing Board Licensees Fairbank Textiles have developed prototype fabrics using 100% scoured Swaledale wool. This sheep breed is one of the most resilient and hard-wearing in the British clip and like all wools, provide excellent insulating properties. We also supply Brown wool, but this is NOT 100% British.
The resulting felts impart the wools natural characteristics thus ensuring excellent spring and durability in the felt and thereby improving the all-round performance of the carpets. Our wool underlay is produced entirely from clean scoured chemical free wool staple on a jute scrim, it is therefore itself recyclable.
It has superb insulation properties and a natural resilience that will also absorb irregularities in the under-floor, thereby prolonging carpet life. Both Brown and Swaledale wool underlays from Fairbank Textiles offer superb quality and durability.

Fairbank Textiles Ltd
In the 1990’s Fairbank Textiles extended their production capabilities to Manufacture a range of different needled felts with and without scrim to cover a broad range of requirements to meet the demands of the markets we supply. Our generous storage facility allows us to hold stocks of our regular felted products enabling a rapid supply to both wholesale and end consumers.
We are always happy to receive enquiries for bespoke or more specific requirements.
Our manufacturing capabilities are we have two needle punch lines offering finished products from 400g/m² to 2000g/m². We can produce rolls up to 2m wide and up to 100m long. Our lines are designed to run natural fibres such as wool, hemp and jute.
