The Blending Process

Storage
Fibre bales are stored in the allocated customer areas of the warehouse

Picking
Fibres are then accurately weighed to produce a ‘blend’

Opening
Fibres pass through either one of our two main opening lines.

Fibre Bins
Fibres are blown from the opening line to one of seven fibre bins that have the capacity to hold up to 10,000 kilos at a time depending on the type of fibre.

Fibres pass through a fearnaught. We have the capabilities to fearnaught fibres multiple times.

Baling
Fibres are then blown to one of our Semi-automated baling presses ready for dispatch.

dispatch
Finished bales are stored with labels that clearly identify customer, shade, batch number, bale number and weight. A delivery note is produced along with a certificate of conformity sheet. Customers also have the option to have their bale tickets barcoded to help with their own internal processes.

Fairbank Textiles Ltd
Fairbank Textiles are mixed fibre blenders and producers of a range of needled felt products for carpet underlay and other applications. Our clients include contract and domestic carpet fitters, carpet wholesalers and original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s).
Fairbank Textiles were established in the early 1970’s as commission fibre blenders providing a service to other fibre users.
In the 1990’s they extended their production capabilities to the manufacture of needled felt products for use in a wide variety of applications from carpet underlay to automotive vehicle sound absorbing felt.
Many of the best known names in motor vehicle manufacture have been supplied felt materials produced at our Sowerby Bridge manufacturing plant.
